Li Gao: The cumulative turnover of the national carbon emission trading market has reached 418 million yuan

On September 26th, Li Gao, the director of the Department of Climate Change of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, revealed at the "International Institute of Green Finance 2021 Annual Meeting of Central University of Finance and Economics" that by September 23, the total trading volume of carbon emission rights in China had reached 8.48 million tons, with a total trading volume of 418 million yuan.  He said that since the launch of trading on July 16, the market has operated smoothly and trading prices have been within a reasonable range.  In the next step, we will continue to steadily promote the construction of the national carbon market. Based on the healthy operation of the carbon market in the power generation industry, we will gradually expand the market coverage to other high-emission industries and enrich the trading varieties and trading methods.  In addition, the Ministry will work with financial authorities, financial regulators and investment authorities to promote climate investment and financing, Li said.
